Disability Options Network Membership Classes
Disability Options Network is a non profit membership organization run by and for people with disabilities in Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer Counties in Pennsylvania. We work as advocates on disability rights issues, as well as skills training, peer support and information and referral services.
Membership in DON is open to all individuals who support our purposes and are divided into the following classes:
- Consumer Members – A consumer member must live in the service area, which includes Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer Counties in Western Pennsylvania, and must meet the criteria of a disabled person, as defined by the Rehabilitation Act, as amended. A consumer member shall have the power to vote on all matters submitted to a vote of the general membership.
- Staff Members – A staff member is a person who works on the staff of Disability Options Network, receives a payroll check, and has chosen to become a member of the DON. A staff member has the right to vote on all matters submitted to a vote of the membership. No staff member has the right to be elected by the membership to serve on the Board of Directors of DON.
- Supporting Members – A supporting member is any member who does not meet the criteria of a consumer or staff member. Supporting members do not have a disability as defined by the Rehabilitation Act as amended. Supporting members living in Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer Counties in Western Pennsylvania have the power to vote on all matters submitted to the vote of the general membership.
