Voting
Why Does Voting Matter?
Voting is one of the most powerful ways to express your voice and influence the future. Every election presents an opportunity to shape policies, advocate for rights, and support candidates who align with your values. For individuals with disabilities, participating in the electoral process is not just a right; it's a vital way to ensure that their needs and perspectives are represented.

When people with disabilities vote, they help elevate critical issues, from accessibility in public spaces to healthcare services and employment opportunities. Their participation not only impacts their own lives but also enriches the democratic process, making it more inclusive and reflective of our diverse society.

Every vote matters, and each individual's voice contributes to the collective vision for a better tomorrow. Join us in championing the importance of voting—let's make sure every voice is heard!

What is REV UP: Empowering the Disability Vote?
REV UP (Revving Up the Disability Vote) is on a mission to amplify the voices of disabled voters and ensure their full participation in our democracy. By increasing civic engagement within the disability community and improving election accessibility, REV UP aims to create a more inclusive political landscape. This is a significant goal, but REV UP's commitment to making a difference is unwavering.

So, how do we achieve this? REV UP's work is organized into five main focus areas, each with specific goals that guide REV UP's efforts. REV UP collaborates closely with state and community leaders, such as DON, and provides small grants to support our initiatives. Here’s a closer look at what REV UP does:

1. Voter Outreach
REV UP actively registers new disabled voters each year, with a goal of registering 1,000 by August 2024, including 200 from congregate settings. In 2024, REV UP will:
-
Support 50 voter training and outreach events.
-
Update state voting guides in Spanish and English for all 50 states and D.C.
-
Increase usage of these guides through targeted strategies.
-
Collaborate with state Election Protection groups on disability voting rights.
-
Prioritize outreach in 30 congregate settings across 3 states, focusing on historically excluded communities.

REV UP will also keep disabled voters informed about elections and participation options, including remote and absentee voting.

2. Increasing Election Accessibility
REV UP works to identify and eliminate barriers at polling places, ensuring that all disabled voters can cast their ballots without impediment.

3. Fighting Voter Suppression
REV UP advocates against discriminatory practices that threaten the voting rights of individuals with disabilities, working to create a fairer electoral process for everyone.

4. Building Civic Engagement
REV UP strives to foster a culture of civic participation within the disability community, encouraging individuals to not only vote but to engage with local issues and candidates.

5. Growing Visibility
By raising awareness about the importance of the disability vote, REV UP aims to ensure that disabled voices are heard and respected in every election cycle.

As you can see, REV UP has a lot to accomplish in 2024, and we need the full force of our community behind us! Join us in making a difference—learn more about how to get involved with REV UP in your own community at our organizing hub: REV UP for 2024. Together, we can build a powerful disability vote that shapes our democracy for the better!
